She hated it. Absolutely hated it. Not only that but I am trying to wean her (from BFing) and she threw a holy moly HUGE tantrum while trying to give her a bottle. Chat Icon I thought her head was going to spin around.

I feel like this is hopeless. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Introducing milk did NOT go over so well....

Did you heat it? Sounds stupid but when I tried to give DS cold milk he refused and pushed it away repeatedly and made a horrible face - every single time - once i warmed it he was ok! HTH good luck Chat Icon

If your not warming then def. try that but i'm pretty sure you can mix bm with milk. (our ped. ok'ed mixing with formula)
Maybe you could try weaning that way.

Chat Icon good luck!

DS went crazy too when I tried to switch him to milk. I had to do it graduatlly. DS was FF but you can definetely mix regular milk and BM. If I gave him an 8 oz. bottle, I would put 7 oz. formul and 1 oz. milk to start. Every few days I would add an oz. more regular milk and an oz. less formula.

we skipped the bottle...straight to sippy cup with a straw.

the ONLY way this kid will drink milk is with ovaltine.

I would probably introduce a sippy cup with the milk and see how that goes.

When DS went from BM to milk, over a 2 week period I began warming the BM less and less. He really began liking it colder and colder. I've also heard moms that warm the cow's milk. I hope this helps. Chat Icon

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Chat Icon

I agree about giving a bottle now....we have tried the sippy for almost two months here and there and she hates it. She thinks it's another thing to chew on. Chat Icon

I am going to try a sippy with a straw and warming the milk a little.

Please Chat Icon this works. I am feeling really overwhelmed by this. I'm noticing she is *slightly* stubborn, like her Daddy. Chat Icon

Hang in there Chat Icon When we weaned DS from EBF to bottles it took THREE months b/f he would readily drink all his "meals" from bottles! I started at 7 months and it wasn't until 10 months that he completely took all bottles! So I feel your pain - it was AWFUL!

Re: Introducing milk did NOT go over so well....

awww..def try a straw cup, and she's used to having your BF warmed right?

Both my kiddies will only drink milk warmed up to body temp.

Re: Introducing milk did NOT go over so well....

Def. try to warm it....my son hated cold formula, and milk. Now he has gotten better with the milk, and will drink it straight from the fridge, but wouldn't in the beginning.

Has you tried the first years disposable cups? For some reason, I know alot of kids take to it....its worth a try!

Good luckChat Icon

Isn't it obvious?

Re: Introducing milk did NOT go over so well....

DD HATED milk the 1st 100 times I tried to give it to her. She would literally spit it out. She was EBF'd for 16 months and we just weaned. I guess now that she's not getting the "good" stuff...she has happily accepted milk as a substitution Chat Icon Of course it's either chocolate or vanilla, but who's keeping tabs!

I think it just takes times. I tried, gave up for a month, tried again, gave up, etc etc....it ONLY happened when she fully weaned.

Don't force it...she'll accept it when she's ready Chat Icon
