introducing rice cereal
my ped. said we could have started rice cereal single grain in Ava's bottles as early as one month because it could actually help her acid reflux. I decided not to and weaned her off her acid reflux medicine on my own too and now she is no longer on it. She is now 3 months old and she is drinking 6 ounces in her bottles and I decided to add in a tablespoon of rice cereal single grain today. Should I be adding this in every bottle if she eats every 3-4 hours? How do you increase it? i can't remember what the ped. said since we spoke about it like 2 months ago. Oh yeah, and when do you feed it to them like a cereal with a bowl and spoon? TIA!

Re: introducing rice cereal
The AAP says not to feed solids until 6 months of age.
Kristina had been having rice cereal in her bottle from when she was around 2 or 3 weeks old due to reflux. 1 half tsp per every ounce.
Because she had been having rice cereal for so long, I decided to start getting her accustomed to eating rice cereal early.... about a week b4 her 4 month birthday.
What her ped told me to do with regard to starting it (and "they" you should start her on the bowl and spoon so that she learns to eat to eat from it and doesn't get lazy by learning to drink her food through the bottle) you put 1T of cereal with 1oz of form/breastmilk.
Kristina didn't like it that soupy so I had to use less formula... U have to play with it til you see how they like it!
