Introducing solids and daycare

Since I'm EBF my MD suggests starting solids at 6 months but Ryan will start daycare then. How do you handle this? I really don't like that he'll be trying new things without me. Do I just try the new stuff when I'm with him and send him to daycare with what we've already tried?

Re: Introducing solids and daycare

I started DD on cereal/veggies over the weekend. That way, I was able to monitor her reaction for a couple of days before she had them at daycare.

Re: Introducing solids and daycare

I gave DS something new only with me feeding, this way I could monitor if he had any reaction, which he never did. I only sent him to daycare with things he had eating for a week before.

YES. My DS's teacher even suggests that. DS is moving on from purees to other foods but still only gets cereal and purees at school.

I would start on a Friday night. That way he gets three days with you on it.

Re: Introducing solids and daycare

I work full time so what I did was try rice cereal 1st on a Sat. I fed her rice cereal for 4 days to make sure she didn't have a reaction and then I bought a box of rice cereal for my ILs house. As I went through oatmeal and then all the fruits and veggies I would try them 1st on the weekend and then as long as she wasn't having a reaction I would send foods that she already tried to my ILs. I think my MIL would recognize if she had a reaciton, but I liked to start a new food when I knew I would be with her for a couple of days.

Re: Introducing solids and daycare

I'm not there yet (solids), but my DD is in daycare and my plan was to do all new things on weekends first, then follow suit at daycare.
