Introducing wheat, when and are you worried about gluten or allergies?
Here are my questions for you:
When did you introduce wheat? If you were BF, Up to what age where breastfeeding? Did your child develop any allergies? Or any GI issues? Was your Ped supportive or against introducing wheat as a first food?
This is why I'm asking
I'm preparing myself for 4 m appt when my ped will give the okay to start solids. We already have the boxed rice and oatmeal cereals ready.
Now, I'm wondering about wheat cereals. My mother said she started solids at 3m and the first thing was semolina wheat cereal. Which was very common to do in Europe, she says. She said she was actually so proud, because babies who ate solids early where considered strong and healthy. Well everyone BF then so I can see why they were pushing solids
the article in the AAP shows that children introduced to wheat before 6 months where less likely to develop allergy.
Thoughts?

I have no idea
But, I have never heard of semolina wheat cereal and most peds now recommend rice, oatmeal or barely cereal to start with

At the guidance of my pediatrician we didn't start solids until after 6 months. I EBF both babies to a year old.
Madelyn was diagnosed with a severe dairy allergy, a moderate beef allergy, and a mild egg allergy at 9 months. As of her last blood draw, she still has a severe dairy allergy, but the beef and egg have resolved themselves.
Eliza has no allergies.
