iphone for verizon?
Does anyone have any inside information? Is verizon getting the iphone or is it all a rumor?

I really wish that would happen very soon. I would LOVE to switch. The dropped calls are really driving us insane.

Re: iphone for verizon?
The word is that in June -- they will announce a new operating system for the iPhone -- 4G. That's what I've been reading online and some friends who work in "the biz". It could be a new OS or just an upgrade or a brand new phone altogether.
This will also include the phone being brought over to Verizon as well.
Thats the reason AT&T and Verizon have been bombarding us lately with soooo many ads about which one is better -- since now both companies will have the iPhone.

I hope it does! Im up for a new phone in April, and if this is the case i will wait until June. I hope they officially come out and say when they are getting it so I know if I should wait or not!

I think we have a chance this summer... Anyone notice when the MaxiPad launches in a few months it's comes without a contract with AT&T... That's a good sign...

I don't think that has anything to do with Verizon. Even without a contract, it's not like you can take an iPad in its current configuration and hook Verizon service up to it.
They are offering the iPad without a contract as a lure to get more people to sign up and not have a burden of a 2 year contract.

I'd bet money that its happening.
Each day more and more article come out about the iPhone 4G and how its gonna have a CDMA card making it able to use the Verizon network.

The iPad doesn't need a contract though? Its just an oversized iPod Touch that works on Wi-Fi and can't make calls (unless you're using Skype thru wi-fi).
At least that is my understanding of it.
ETA: Okay I just saw on the site how they will have a 3G model with cellular capabilities. I'm not sure why you would want a giant phone -- but okay.

The iPad can be purchased with a data only cellphone and you can pay $30 a month to not have to worry about finding wifi spots. I think that's very attractive knowing you can just cancel the service at any time.

It's data only cellphone. No voice. The equivalent of getting say a laptop cellular aircard (which I actually have with Sprint and it's freakin' AWESOME).

Very interesting.
I'm still not sold on the iPad. Maybe when it comes out in stores I'll see it and think its awesome. But for now...I dunno.
I'd think a netbook would be more convenient than carrying around an iPad - if you needed to use the cellular aircard.
But I'm sure we'll see how it does when it comes out.

I'm selling my netbook to pay for ipad.
The netbook is 3+ pounds, the iPad just over a pound
netbook requires a contract for service, ipad does not
