IPODs in Brand new cars.....??
MIL has the 2008 VW rabbit and she says you can hook up your Ipod
Is this just a Volkswagon feature??or do other cars come with this also??

Most cars have what's called an auxuliary port where you can plug your ipod directly in using the ipod's headphone jack.
I think the volkswagons actually have the wire to connect to the bottom of the ipod. This enables you to charge the ipod as well and display song and title on the VW's radio display.
But don't hold me to that.

agreed...
VW has a deal with apple just like ford has a deal with Microsoft and there Sync techology...
you have to cross sell these days..
as for car stearo systems, they can be really advance. the next step is to mainstream carputers... i almost installed one in my car but opted not to as its not that serious for me but really fun...

DH just got a Maxima & it has the auxiliary port for the IPOD. It comes in real handy....
For my truck, I bought the adapter that went with the tape deck & can listen to the ipod in my truck..It is a PIA but it works

yup, Hondas do too. I went with the non-sport Model though (aka cheap!  ) so I wasn't able to get the hook-up. I still regret that! I might ask for a hookup for my bday sometime down the road.

I has an IPOD intergration system installed when I got my car 2 years ago
it's so cool- I plug it in- in the glove box and it plays thru my audio system - I also control it thru the radio controls on my steering wheel
(It's a Mercedes)

yup! my 2006 toyota RAV 4 has an auxillary port in the "pit" between the driver and passenger seats ( the armrest opens up to put things in, and the aux port is in there). DH has a thing called archos, which is like an IPOD and we just plug the cord into that and it plays through my speakers 
my friend also just got a new nissan that has this, too.

my scion comes with both the aux port and the ipod hookup... its nice to have to never charge my ipod at home
