I have my great-great-great grandmother's reciepe from Ireland.
It's our tradition to have it Christmas morning, but I may make some for St Patrick's this year!!

Re: irish soda bread
Making some today. Here is my Mother's recipe
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups of buttermilk 1 1/4 cup of raisins (best way is soak raisins in water the night before makes them plump) 1 cup of sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon of baking soda 1 teaspoon of salt 2 teaspoon of melted butter 2 teaspoons of baking powder 4 cups of Flour Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a big bowl. Mix with your hands. cook @ 350 degrees for an hour When done wrap in dish towel & cool on it's side (I put it on the dish tray) this will make either 1 big loaf or 2 med size loafs.
