Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
Depends on what type of coat you have but I doubt it. I'm due in March and I can't imagine any of my winter coats fitting well at 8-9 months pg. I have a wool swing coat that might get me through Nov & December.

I'm due end of January I'm going to try to get by without buying one. Maybe try layering up with husband's sweaters!

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
thankfully I will be in NC and not due until the end of March, so I am hoping to get away with my current ones and borrow my DH if it's really that bad.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
With DS I was due 1/17. I had a BIG belly and there was no way I was fitting into a jacket I would normally wear. I got one from Old Navy for $50 and wore it everyday for a few months.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
IMO no, but I guess it depends on how you are carrying. If needed I'd just borrow one, get a cheapy non maternity in a bigger size or try a consigment shop. I've found most maternity clothes to be a rip off and unnecessary.

I would never be able to close my non-maternity jacket! I bought one on ebay that was new but wasn't too expensive during my first pregnancy and am glad to have it to wear again now.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
Maybe you can find a swing coat or a coat that is generally very loose? That may work. I have a swing coat which I don't really like, but it should get me through any really cold days before I'm due (early December).

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
I wouldn't think so , though I guess it depends on how big your regular coat is... I'm due 10 days before you and I know there's no way my winter coat's going to fit me this year. Think of how far out 40 week bellies are and late Jan/early Feb is the coldest part of winter and when we'll be our biggest.
I think I'm going to try eBay for a coat and just get it dry cleaned before I need it.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
Im due in january and was wondering the same thing as I'm not THAT big in size (by weight is another story!!) but I am going to have to cave in as I pulled my jacket out the other day and its not happening.....I'm planning on trying ebay.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
I can get away with mine as I did with DD's pregnancy. I didn't get an extra maternity coat. It depends on the design of the coat.

Im due March 4, and I decided to buy one a few weeks ago. I figured I might as well be comfy during the icky winter months.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
I was due May 3rd and I never got one. I used an old coat that actually was my grandmother's. It was more of a "swing" style than anything else.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
depends on your lifestyle. If you are always in and out of your car, I would say you might be able to get away without one, but if you commute on the train or are oustide a lot, I would get one.
There are some really inexpensive ones on Ebay.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
I'm due in Feb, too. I live in the city & have long walks to & from the subway- everyone, including my mother, tells me that you are so warm I'll have to leave the coat open. My OB says an open coat w/ a sweater underneath & a scarf & hat will be fine.

Re: Is a maternity winter jacket a neccessity?
I'm due the end of January. At first I thought I'd be able to manage with this large coat that I have, but now I'm not so sure. I'm watching a coat on ebay right now. I can't see paying full price for a coat that I'll only wear one winter.
