i hate the phone. i have to write out what I need to ask and what not if I am calling to make an appointment ect. I hate hate calling people at work id rather email them.

DH would say that I don't like talking to people in general on the phone...IMO it's a partially true statement.
If I know the person I have no issues..if I don't like the person or don't know the person I won't want to talk to them on the phone.
Ordering food for take out over the phone is not a problem. I get tired of when DH asks me to call LIPA/Cablevision, etc on his behalf for something that he should be picking up the phone for.
Work related though it depends who it is- I feel funny when I speak more formally to a commissioner than to a regular person making an inquiry.

I'm the same way. I hate ordering dinner, calling hotels, calling anyone for that matter. i dont know what it is, because I'm the furtherst thing from shy in front of people...
i dont like talking on the phone to anyone but friends really.

i'm not nervous at all... i didnt know so many people get nervous talking on the phone.
ETA:: i dont get nervous on the phone with people i dont know personally because, well they dont know me and i dont care, lol. no big deal

I hate chatting on the phone, but if there's a customer service issue, ordering food, etc. I can totally do it.
Here are my tricks:
1. Talk to everyone like it's the BEST. DAY. OF YOUR. LIFE. and this is the last phone conversation you'll ever need to have. Happiness is infectious.
2. Remember the name of the person you are calling. "Thanks, X. That's a great idea". goes a long way.
3. Smile. and stop and listen.
The person on the other end of the phone does not know you, and will probably never meet you, and I am sure you are not the worst phone call you got that day.

Lol, yes. I always end up saying something completely ridiculous, and most of the time I'm doing it for work.

I HATE it. It gives me anxiety too...always has. I will literally run from the phone if it rings. Talking to people like the ILs is soooo uncomfortable on the phone. I hate the long awkward pauses. I would rather text or email any day.
