Is anyone superstitious about Friday the 13th?
Does anyone have any levels of fear or anxiety or superstitions about today? I don't have any at all, but I know a lot of people do.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_the_13th
The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia (Frigga being the name of the Norse goddess for whom "Friday" is named and triskaidekaphobia meaning fear of the number thirteen), or paraskevidekatriaphobia, a concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (?a?as?e??, meaning "Friday"), and dekatreís (de?at?e??, meaning "thirteen") attached to phobía (f?ß?a, from phóbos, f?ß??, meaning "fear"). The latter word was derived in 1911and first appeared in a mainstream source in 1953 ... According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day. Some people are so paralyzed by fear that they avoid their normal routines in doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. "It's been estimated that $800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day". Despite this, representatives for both Delta and Continental Airlines say that their airlines do not suffer from any noticeable drop in travel on those Fridays.

Nope! I am not superstitious at all. It's just another Friday in my book, nothing special about it!

Not really, I'm generally not a superstitious person, but when I hear "friday the 13th" doom and gloom does come to mind

Not I. In fact, my sister is due to have her baby any day now and we all keep saying how awesome it would be if she gave birth on Friday the 13th. Almost as cool as a Halloween birthday!

Re: Is anyone superstitious about Friday the 13th?
I said a little, it's in the back of my mind. My dad is quite superstitious and it became ingrained in me, I do things like throw salt over my left shoulder if it spills and I never open umbrellas indoors, so it occurs to me that it's Friday the 13th and I'm aware of it but it doesn't interfere with my functioning or anything

I'm a little apprehensive, but I try not to think about it. I have enough strange phobias to add to the list!

Re: Is anyone superstitious about Friday the 13th?
I'm not superstitious. Just glad it is Friday though.
On a side note, MIL was born on Friday the 13th 86 years ago. The doctor was superstitious so he recorded her birth date as the 14th.

Re: Is anyone superstitious about Friday the 13th?
Nope.
My parents eloped at the town hall on a Friday the 13th, and it was raining.
They are still happily married 49 years later. Good things can happen on Friday the 13th!

I not superstitous about anything else at all, but if I have to fly on the Friday the 13th, I get a little nervous. Dumb, I know. Otherwise, just happy its Friday.

DH and I got married on a Friday the 13th too. And it rained - though the sun did show up a little later. We didn't elope - but when we looked at open dates in the catering hall's book and saw Friday the 13th was open we thought - PERFECT! We'll be married 9 years this year. Good things can definitely happen on Friday the 13th.
