Is "bloody" show a sign of the beginning of labor?
I have been having cramping off and on all day and just went to the bathroom and have a bloody discharge. I called my dr's emergency # and of course out of the 6 dr's from my office, NONE of them are on call tonight. It is some dr from another practice who I have never heard of. I know this is probably only the beginning of labor but I want to let them know being I was leaking fluid earlier this week. This is so frustrating! What is the pt of going to a big practice when none of the dr's are on call. I am afraid some dr I dont know will have to deliver my baby.

It can be, but labor can be HOURS or DAYS later!

This happened to me and I gave birth about 24 hours later. I would try to get in touch with someone to get monitored.

Sure can be!!! You are almost there
I had a bloody show and still needed to be induced days later
ETA: I didn't know the doctor that delivered my DD. I really liked her, much better than my OB, and ended up changing!! So don't worry too much about that

Try not to worry too much about this. had a doc deliver DD that I had never met. The funny part is that I knew for 9 months that it was a possibility because I knew he occasionally covered for my docs and I kept saying to my friend "I don't want stupid Dr. X". Then he ended up delivering my baby. And guess what -- he was wonderful!! I was hating a man I had never met, and I could not have asked for a better doctor, and in then end, I would not change a single thing. Just relax, everything will be okay. Your doctors would not have an incompetent boob covering for them!
ETA: Good luck! You should have your little baby very soon!

I had bloody show on a wed and then again on that friday before going into labor on Friday night.
