Is chinese food ok for a 15 month old?

Can I give my DD veggies in a brown sauce with brown rice? I didn't order it with no MSG or anything special like that.

If Chinese babies can eat it, why not yours! I always let my son eat some of our food when he was that age...especially at a Chinese restaurant!!!

I guess, I wasn't so much questioning the food but the MSG additive. But you are so right about the Chinese babies thing.Chat Icon I hadn't thought of it that way.

I think that most chinese food places do not use MSG anymore- so it should be fine!! Yummy!

Actually most places do unless you specifically request them not to use msg.

The chinese restaurant by me clearly advertises on their menu that they don't use MSG. If it's not written anywhere I would inquire.

Yes I heard this also.

Also, FYI most Chinese babies wouldn't eat the same sold Chinese food that we buy...they eat it much healthier w/o all the sauces, etc. (my bro at one point went out w/ a Chinese girl who's family owned a Chinese restaurant) & she said the dishes are so Americanized but her family wouldn't eat it like that.

Make sure that what you are giving your child isnt a dish that has been cooked in peanut oil. Many chinese dishes are cooked in peanut oil and I believe they aren't supposed to have peanuts until they are 2 or 3 in case of a possible allergic reaction.

Great reminder...thank you. I already gave it to her but I'll keep a watch on her tonight. She ate very little anyway----picky eater---Chinese isn't her thing right now.

My DS is 11mos old and he eats PBJ's. Really he eats EVERYTHING we eat. He wont eat jar food anymore because he knows that we have better food. I would say as far as the Chinese food, my only concern would be the MSG.

Don't they say to hold off on the PB until a later age because of potential allergies?

Yeah...I've heard most people say no PB until two and three if there are allergies in the family

I've only found that my DS is allergic to one thing and that is yogurt. The only way I found out was by trying.

I actually know alot of people who introduced PB before 2 but I am not one of them and I dont want to take chances but I guess if the child doesnt have a reaction the first time, then its fine.

I guess it's ok as long as she doesn't have any kind of allergic reaction to it.

You could always ask the ped. See what they think...
