Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
December is decorated beautifully for the holidays and there's a ton of related activities/parades at each park. October has Halloween-related activities and the weather is warmer than in December.

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
I have needed winter coats, hats and mittens in December. There was frost on the ground and waiting in line when it was cold is really not fun. With that said, I love love love the holiday lights and Disney really does a fantastic New Years show. I went once in October and the weather was great. I am not sure if I would do Typhoon Lagoon - it is by far my favorite park, but it is still a wonderful time to go. I think it depends upon the weather but I would rather go in October when you have a better chance of having nice weather.

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
We went in both. Oct 2009 Halloween week. Didnt seem too crowded, decor was nice. We went in a heat wave...95 degrees + every day.
December 10-15 2010...decorations out of this world. Loved everything about it. Seemed more crowded. Went during cold spell. first day was 70 degrees, rest it got as low as 30. It was cold. Luckily DS doesnt seem to mind cold so it didnt bother us.
I would choose October next time. However the holiday decorations are worth the cold temps.

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
October is nicer weather, less people, food and wine and Halloween decor.
BUTTTTTTTTTT December has Christmas stuff... more crowds but Christmas! And the weather really isn't that, and it can still get hot in Oct.
It's a toss up to me.

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
December!!! Christmas time is AWESOME at Disney! The Osbourne Lights, the Very Merry Christmas Party, the amazing decorations... it's just awesome. Halloween is fun too, but when we went it was 90+ degrees and too hot! (we had to buy the kids new costumes at WalMart bc the ones I brought were too warm!) Food & Wine Festival is awesome at EPCOT, but not exactly for kiddies, and the Not So Scary Halloween Party is a blast- the kids get to go trick or treating and everyone dresses up in costume and goes to the park.

They decorate in early November. I am pretty sure the first night of the Christmas stuff at MK is November 9th. The Osborne lights are up by then too. We are going November 8-18.. The week after Thanksgiving is great. No crowds and great weather..

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
When in December is an important question. Early December is quiet and gorgeous with the holiday decorations and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party etc. BUT if you are thinking of going around Christmas and New Years you might want to rethink - the parks are often filled to capacity. There are even days that they close the parks b.c they are filled and so you wouldn't be able to leave and go back to your hotel and return later. The weather is definitely iffy - but we went in January and nights were cold (40's and 30s) but day time was layers. 60's in the mornings - but by afternoon it was 70's and we even swam on day it hit 80.
October the crowds will be much lower (but it can be crowded around Halloween. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is a LOT of fun. The halloween decorations are fun. The weather is still warm and more predictable.

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
I went during Thanksgiving last year. DD was 15 months.
It was decorated for Christmas and the weather was beautiful. Sunny warm and not too humid.
It was probably more crowded because of the holiday, but I would go back around that time.

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
I think Disney is better in December in the sense that it'll be all decorated for the holidays!! In terms of pricing, I think it may be more expensive in December.

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
We went the beginning of november..like nov 2 or something. The halloween decor was down but the xmas decor was up. The xmas decor was incredible and it was not crowded at all. I would recommend that time to go.

Re: Is Disney better in October or December?
October - to me hands down. I went twice in October and once in December (the past 3 years). October was a wonderful time. I hit 30 degree weather in mid December - unseasonable for the time of year in FL per the locals ... we had layers, winter coats, hats, gloves ,etc by night time. And it was more crowded in early/mid Dec (went around 8-11 or somethinn like that) than it was in Early and mid Oct the other times I went. I found decorations equally as nice - one was fall-ish and the other was holiday. Similar stuff - diifferent colors.
