Re: is it better to wear... (hospital Question)

i have heard that it's better to have a nightgown because they're going to have to check you a lot (for either a c-section or a vag birth) and it's easier to just lift the gown than take the pants off.

I wore the gown for the first 2 days after my c-section..it was just easier to have something loose over the incision, plus the nurses check the incision a few times a day. By day 3 I was wearing my pj's.

I don't care for gowns, but I remember when I was in nursing school and checking OB patients, the gown would be easier.

I agree... the nurses come in regularly to check you and the easy access will be easier on you for either type of delivery

nightgown. B/c They check you often. I was in so much pain/could not move until the last day. So I mainly wore their gown.

forget about bottoms for a day or two. I did not get underwear on for many hours. Love those hospital pads and belts. DO they still make them. Chat Icon

I did a poll on this on the parenting board last week. It was pretty much split down the middle. I plan on wearing pajamas.

I am never comfortable without pants- especially with the pad on. SO I wore comfy pants and a t-shirt.

I have a pair of old navy maternity pants that fold down easily REAL low- I will wear those if I can get them on.

I'm going to bring both. I hope to wear pants but want a gown incase of a c-section. I wanted to get something really cute but after reading so many posts on this i'm going to get black because of the bleeding.

same here.. I wore very comfy PJ's and honestly, this time around they didn't even check me down there, just my belly...
But with DD #1 they were always checking down there... maybe things changed?

Isn't it obvious?

Re: is it better to wear... (hospital Question)

I had a c/s and I wore comfy pajamas with bottoms. The pads I wore were HUGE, so it just wasn't comfy to NOT wear bottoms. They only checked my incision site, obviously, so wearing pants wasn't an issue.

did you get an epi? or tear?

With my first, I no epi but I had a VERY, VERY slight tear (1/2 stitch only required), and they did check.

With my second, I had no tearing and no epi, so they never even checked. Only my jelly belly.

Re: is it better to wear... (hospital Question)

I have to say that I assumed that a nightgown would be more comfortable. I am a sweatpant and t-shirt type of person. I thought my woowoo would be sore but this time I'm bringing PJs and not a nightgown. Of course this is for after the baby is born. After the baby I don't remember being checked - I did have 3 internal stitches. They only pushed down on my stomach the day I was leaving to make sure my uterus was contracting and shrinking.

During child birth I wouldn't wear anything of my own.

Maybe bring both.

I wore the hospital gown for the first 24 hours and then I got changed into regular clothes and wore pajamas at night. I had a c-section.

I was so comfy in my sweats. I don't think I would have been comfortable in a nightgown.

Re: is it better to wear... (hospital Question)

I hate wearing nightgowns, but it does make sense that they would be easier while in the hospital. I will bring a gown and robe set and a couple of pairs of pjs.

I had a c-section and wore pajamas, they do not bother the incision because it is so low.

Re: is it better to wear... (hospital Question)

I had vaginal birth and they only checked to see if my uterus was going down. I didn't have to take my pants off at all, I just lifted up my shirt.
