is it common to poop on the table while delivering?
Sorry but i hear this being a lot of peoples fear. Is it really common and whould DH really know? I feel like at that point if it happens it happens I will just want the baby out.

I didn't, but don't be surprised if it does. The L&D nurse told me "Push like you are pooping" so be prepared. I told DH I might and that there was nothing I could do about it. Trust me, when you are at the pushing stage, it's the least of your concerns. You just want that baby out, and you don't care who sees you practically naked and what you do on that table!

I think it's pretty common because you're pushing with "those" muscles, like you were making a b/m. I knew I did because I (TMI) smelled it. I was like "OOOHHH NOOO, I pooped " The nurses just giggled. Husband said that was nothing in comparison to the other stuff that was making it's way out of me

Agreed. (It happened w/ DS#1, not #2...no pun intended! ) DH was nice enough to inform my family of it during the telling of HIS birth story!

My sister in law is a labor nurse and she said 99% of the time it happens, it's part of the labor and they quickly scoop it up and no one knows. I had no idea I did;)

I did and when I realized it, I said sorry to the nurse. She just cleaned it up really quickly and said it comes with the territory, there's nothing to be sorry about. Once you are in labor all modesty goes out the window.
DH didn't know I did bc he didn't look down there. He was up by my head the whole time I was pushing.

I did not because I gave myself an enema before leaving for the hospital. My Lamaze DVD suggested it

I was shocked I didn't. I had no drugs and I could feel everything and all I kept saying was I need to just go and poop. I asked DH and he said no poop.
Trust me when you're pushing that baby out you won't care. You think you will now but you won't.

I did with all 3 kids, I think more ladies do and they think they did not, this is becauae it is scooped away so quickly. It is usually only if you have not eaten int he last 12 hrs or of you got an enema do you NOT poop on the table. I bet lots of you ladies who think you didn't actually DID!!! 
Some docs actually get concerned if you don't poop on the table if you haven't had an enema ro havenot' eaten, because that muscle in your rectum can sometimes become disabled by laboring or the baby leaning a certain way.
So... poop away ladies!!!

I didn't but I didn't really have anything in my stomach. I think I was too afraid to eat the night before because on our lamaze video we saw a lady crap all over the shower and her husband goes "see, I told you you shouldn't have eaten that HUGE philly cheesesteak!!" Me and my husband still get a good laugh when remembering that!

I don't plan on even telling DH this is a possibility. He is freaked out enough about everything else that will be happening. I do plan on giving myself an enema before we go to the hospital.
