Is it men in general or just my DH that's incapable of finding things?
We had bough an 8pk of soap last week and neither of us have any recolllection of actually putting it away. So this morning DH is ranting and raving because he "looked everywhere" for it and concluded it had simply disappeared. So why is it that when I finally got up to look for it myself I found it in less than 30 seconds?

My DH is the same way. I think men are just hard-wired that way.

DH made dinner last night (miracle, since I was sick) He asked me where everything was. A jar of sauce, the pasta, the meatballs.
Um, think a minute and take a look.
The fact that he made dinner just blew me away.

Re: Is it men in general or just my DH that's incapable of finding things?
I can only speak for my husband, but I honestly think he's this way b/c he's got a TON of other stuff on his mind and multitasking isn't his strong suit.
Finding something like the soap or his keys is just not as important as whatever else is on his mind.
I read a study where men were tested for multitasking by giving them a task to do and while they were doing that there was a conversation going on in an adjacent room.
At the end of the test they had to explain the conversation that was being had in the other room and it was found most could not or if they could recall it they really go into detail over what it was about. However when the women were tested they could easily recall the conversation in detail.
I think it's just a matter of men don't care about stuff like finding the soap so it's not something they really pay attention to.

Both my DH and my father are that way. If they go to the fridge and don't see what they want directly in front of them, then they can't find it.

Totally men in general. My husband claims that I move things all the time yet when I go to look for it, it is exactly where it should be.

Yes my DH is like this too. The other night he opened the refridgerator door and within 2 seconds proclaimed the ketchup was not in there. Uh...look on the door. He was like "wow you are amazing with that ability of yours to locate things".
He's like that with everything keys, books, shoes.

All men are like that... and what I don't understand is that they constantly need guidance in finding things... however, they would NEVER ask for directions if their lost.

Its men in general. It is just a part of their anatomy. It comes with their pig head.
I am always telling DH to look with his eyes. He gets so annoyed with me, but then finds it.

My DH won't MOVE things...I think that's his problem! Like if the salsa is behind the milk, it will never be found.
