Is it normal to have a fever and congestion with teething?

Or are they two separate things going on?? I think I see a white spot on her gum and she is miserable and running a 100.8 fever...

Funny that you ask that because I just brought Kara to the doctors last saturday. She had a runny nose. I asked if it could be from teething and she said she knows alot of us mom's believe in this (fevers and runny nose) but she doesn't think there is a link to it.

My pediatrician doesnt believe that there is a link either however everytime a tooth breaks through, he has cold like symptoms.

I personally think maybe a slight runny nose...although I think diarrhea more maybe...but I def do not think a fever.

Yes, all of the above (including the diarhea) Chat Icon Chat Icon
When they are teething, the cutting of the gums can cause a slight fever (EVERY doctor will deny it but mom knows best! Chat Icon ). Also, all the drooling can cause some congestion and messy diapers. For DS, his cheeks also got a little red with each new tooth.
