Animal did great for a whole week on the beach.....want her to come over and give Ava some beach etiquette lessons
Can Animal come over and teach Ali that the sand is her friend?

Haha, thanks girls. Ok, so let me get this straight, I need to bring DH, bury her and obviously have her talk to Marcie's Ali so that she learns that sand is just bad news, did I miss anything?

Well, I don't care which one of your kids comes, either option would work for me In return, Ava will teach them how to experiment on poop. Preferably Animal's.

Oh please, she could teach them to cook a gourmet meal in her kitchen, too. Not made from poop.

Oh no you didn't -
I won't even take my kids - did it once and I'm not doing it again until they're 30
Maybe we should go - Ava, Ava and Jack......who would need to go to the gym that night

Re: Is it possible to enjoy the beach with a wild child toddler?
When we first took Julia to the beach, I was so anal about her getting sand on her body or in her diaper, that I couldn't enjoy myself, until my DH said "lighten up where at the beach, she's suppose to have sand on her"! lol
After that I stopped worrying and just let her have fun! I rinse her off before we go in the car.
Julia likes to walk around the beach, and my DH and I just take turns watching her. She's pretty good though with Just sitting with her beach toys and playing in the sand, my DH takes her down by the water and digs a big hole for her to play in, its fun!
I would go more till she gets use to it!

I totally understand. Ava just turned 3, and taking her to the beach is just now a little easier. I still can't do it alone though....and forget about bringing a chair...I can't sit for aa second.

Re: Is it possible to enjoy the beach with a wild child toddler?
We're going to the Jersey shore for a long weekend in a few days. Luckily, DD is barely walking (still crawling mostly) so she can't get too far. In a year from now, I will be writing the same post though. My girl is very very energetic!!!
I'm definitely going to try to bury her legs and see how that goes!!

Re: Is it possible to enjoy the beach with a wild child toddler?
i would never go to the beach by myself with DD, so i would always make sure to go with a few friends that have LOTS of patience. DD is 3 1/2 now so it's not so bad, she just wants to go in the water the whole time.

I give you credit for even bringing her. I would never attempt it at this point

Re: Is it possible to enjoy the beach with a wild child toddler?
was this the first time? I think kids go into sensory overload the first time. all the kids playing, the seagulls, thewaves, the feel of the sand.
i definitely agree with Mel - relax about the sand - it can be cleaned off and any they eat, well it comes out

Re: Is it possible to enjoy the beach with a wild child toddler?
I think it is hard to go alone. I go often with my SIL with my 4 1/2 year old neice and 8 year old nephew. My neice can be a handful so she likes having another set of eyes and hands there.

Re: Is it possible to enjoy the beach with a wild child toddler?
Baby powder takes sand off the kids, so next time you go, pack a bottle
I'm not brave enough to take the baby to the beach yet. I think I would have too much gear and how would I carry it all!
