Is it really hard to transition from the potty seat to the toilet?
I am thinking of giving in and buying a potty. We had just the piece that goes on the toilet bowl but she makes NO effort to use it. I figured maybe if I can get an actual potty and be able to move around with it, then we can get the ball rolling.

. Is it really hard? No but personally I think it delays it. Then they can develop phobias about the flush, etc.
How old is she again? eta. Just checked.
Most kids start to potty train these days 2-3 yo. She's right on target.

Re: Is it really hard to transition from the potty seat to the toilet?
I hope not - cause originally we were putting her on the toilet, then we broke out a potty for the floor. She seems to be using more than she did on the toilet. I hope its not a big adjust to get her back on the bowl.
She does understand that they are one in the same though. If she does poop in her diaper, she does know it needs to go in the toilet not the potty. So who knows

Same thing happened with us...tried to seat and she wasn't having it...she would go, but she would always have accidents. Got a potty and made a huge difference...it was just her size and she felt more in control...
I will use a potty again with DD#2

Good to know... I think this might be it. I am gonna give in even if it delays the process a bit. I mean I have to at least start it. I feel like we havent been going anyhere thus far.

Re: Is it really hard to transition from the potty seat to the toilet?
DS started with a little potty because he started sitting on the potty at a young age (14 months) and I thought he might be too intimidated by the big toilet. He transitioned really easily to using an insert on the big potty at around 22 months. So if you think she'll respond to a little potty better go ahead and try it.

DD doesn't really care for the fake toliet she wants what mommy is sitting on. I just did the opposite and bought a potty seat.

Re: Is it really hard to transition from the potty seat to the toilet?
Nope, Ava goes back and forth no problemo.
ETA: I just want to add that it gives her a sense of independency here at our house since she can go whenever she wants. In our house, to get to the bathroom on the first floor, there's a big step down that I don't want her doing on her own and the other bathroom is on the second floor, which we're never on, so it's worked well for us.

Re: Is it really hard to transition from the potty seat to the toilet?
My sons nursery has asked us not to use the potty, just to have him go on the toilet (we haven't started potty training yet) but they think its very confusing for kids. Again, its probably not the same for every kid, but they have asked us to use just the toilet with a seat on it.

Re: Is it really hard to transition from the potty seat to the toilet?
We have one of each - the potty for downstairs and the one that just goes on the toilet for upstairs.
I wanted to let you know that DD didn't really show any interest in either (she was 2 in Oct)....until Daddy came home from the supermarket with a book about Molly going on the potty. He came home with the book the day before yesterday and she is obsessed with it. You can imagine my shock last night when she decided that she wanted to go on the potty and peed for the first time
It is definitley from the book and only the book since we haven't done anything else differently!

at first she didn't like the regular one at first, but she adjusted well. Now she goes back and fourth with no problem.
