Is my kid the only one who takes HOURS to
go back down to sleep?
Tommy has been STTN since 3 months. Always has been a light sleeper though. It does not help that my DH has fought me tooth and nail over putting carpeting down in the hallway and the baby’s room. We have an old house and the floors are creaky. Well last night, I just went to check on DS to make sure the AC was not making his room too cool (lesson learned) and the damn floor creaked and he was up for THREE HOURS. Could not go back to sleep. Finally I gave him Tylenol and a bottle and he went back to sleep. I am amazed when I read on here and talk to some of my friends and their kids go back within a few minutes, half an hour. It is pretty rare that he is up during the night, but when he is up he is UP!
AAAHHHHH!

Nope.. Samantha is the same way.
When she's up, she's up....
ETA - You know we have a guest bathroom that shares a wall with her bedroom. When she is sleeping we cannot use that bathroom because the slightest sound wakes her up.
Thank goodness there are 3 other bathrooms in the house!

Re: Is my kid the only one who takes HOURS to
My 8 month old DS generally goes back to sleep easily (except in the AM) but I am TOTALLY with you when it comes to light sleep and creaky floors. We cannot make a sound in the morning or middle of the night bc he is up! I say he has bionic hearing. My dad and I have great hearing and it looks like he inherited it. I have literally held the viedo monitor in my hands and watched as he has woken up from the slightest sound of me simply opening my bedroom door It doesn't help that we moved in one year ago and don't have carpeting or many furnishings so sounds seem amplified. Sound machine outside his door hasn't helped. Naps are a nightmare sometimes bc we feel like prisoners in our own home!

My DD is funny about this. The other day she napped through the loudest thunderstorm I have ever heard - it was so loud the car alarms were going off - but woke suddenly when my dog shook (no collar) outside her door. W T Eff?

If he's a really light sleeper, you may want to use a white noise machine in his room to help him stay asleep and not hear those noises

I have a fan and a LOUD air conditioner on for him. He has supersonic hearing!
