Is there a good low or no sugar alternative to Cheerios?
So I've let Bella eat some Mutli-Grain Cheerios, but they've got some sugar in them that I'm not so happy about. So I'm wondering what you mommies are giving your DC's as an alternative with low or no sugar at all.
THANKS!

I saw something similar to cheerios in Whole Foods but haven't read the ingredients. I think I might try to go back today to get them for Lucas. I'll let you know if I do.

Re: A good alternative to Cheerios?
Regular cheerios are good, gerber puffs are very low in sugar, also plain puffed wheat.
I also let her have chex, crispix, rice krispies (when they were a little older).

I bought organic "cheerios". They're made by Cascadia Farms, they're called Purely O's. We've only tried them once, and I don't remember the sugar content though. I got them at Wild by Nature.

Re: Is there a good low or no sugar alternative to Cheerios?
I believe that all cereal has sugar in it I've been giving my DS the Oatios because at least they're organic. It says 2 g of sugar for a 1 cup serving. I don't know how that compares to Cheerios.
ETA: I got them at Wild By Nature.

I think the regular Cheerios have less sugar.

The Multi Grain have 6g per serving = 1 cup
And I don't like that the 3rd ingredient in them is sugar

Without seeing the ingredients...they've got Bob Greene's "Best Life" stamp on them...so I know those are lower in sugar. I'll have to check them out

Regular cheerios only have 1 gram of sugar per serving, one of the lowest.
Multigrain cheerios are coated with lite sweetness.

I do the oatios. Unfortunately they all have sugar. I try to get stuff that is whole grain if I can b/c it helps to balance.

I sometimes give Marron Kix. They have 2g of sugar per cup but I use them as a snack rather than her regular breakfast cereal. She has plain Cheerios almost every day.

Yeah, check them out. DD only has tried them once, didn't quite "get them", but we have to try again. DH said maybe they don't dissolve as easily as regular Cheerios, but I don't think regular Cheerios really dissolve easily either ETA: I like that these are whole grain too!

Re: Is there a good low or no sugar alternative to Cheerios?
i just bought 3 boxes of these at fairway for $10 on saturday.
they do not have any sugars in the ingredients list. they do have 1g of sugars in the nutrition facts list, which i assume is from carbs breaking down.
the babies don't seem to have any difficulty with these.
although i absolutely love, love, love trader joe's, i would not recommend their organic multigrain o's (brown box with red writing). they are so hard and do not dissolve at all!

Sugar is sugar. Where you see Sugar listed, it's SUGAR. Where you see the listing for Carbs, is carbs. The nutritional info does not list sugars in the facts as sugars "from carbs breaking down."
Looking at the nutritional info for both. the two cereals aren't that much different.

BUT
sugars are derived from differnt things, sugar can be different.
Sugar in say fruits is a "better" sugar then sugar in cereals. Its from the Fruit "breaking down" versus added by a manufacturer to make it taste better KWIM?
So where its placed in an ingredient list means something.

I'm speaking of these TWO cereals.
