Is there a list of vacations suitable for kids 5 and under?
I'm trying to figure out what vacation to book this summer-is there a thread on here that lists vacations for that age group? I couldn't find one! I'm looking for driving distance 5 hours or less from LI
If not, can we start one?
Here is what I have so far: (Ive been to the ones with the * but the others I am not sure exactly how suitable they are for this particular age group-maybe someone can add their input!)
*Dutch wonderland *Mystic hershey Park Lake George Jersey shore (what is good for lil ones?) Sesame Place Great Wolf Lodge Rockin Horse Ranch Willow Valley Woodloch Pines Mountauk Crayola Factory (plus something else in PA)
If anyone has any other ideas, please share and I will update first post! :)

Re: Is there a list of vacations suitable for kids 5 and under?
Washington DC is good even in the winter as all museums are indoors. The tour where they make $ is fun.
Newport , RI (very close drive to mystic) with great restaurants and hotels.
Saratoga, NY: cute town, fun horse races, close to lake George (but I've been here for a vacation for half a week in itself)
Vermont (though the drive may be longer) in early October is beautiful with foliage, gorgeous resorts and family friendly activities.
Jersey shore: we combine AC and Cape May. Stay at one, drive to other is 30 minutes!

I was thinking Newport too-but wasn't sure if it was good for that young of age (I do remember seeing older kids there)! When my DH and I went--we did the mansions--what is there for kids to do there? I know there is the sailing....

If you do Newport in the summer you have the beaches, boat tours, and a cute arcade. There's not that much more then that, but easily enough to keep busy for a long weekend. If you're looking to do a week long trip I would probably do it joint with Mystic. Or take the ferry out of RI to either Block Island of Martha's Vineyard for a couple of nights. Lake Compounce isn't too far from that area either. Woodloch Pines is amazing! And awesome for kids of all ages and grown ups. There is tons to do all day and night. But it's pretty expensive. We had an awesome long weekend there in January with three other families. And we cant wait to go back next year. I have a full review on the travel board. Rocking Horse Ranch seems pretty similar (haven't been there since I was a kid). Sesame Place gets mixed reviews. I have been there a handful of times and my kids always had a blast. But i do think its overpriced. I hear much better things about Dutch Wonderland and Hershey.

For kids: dock walking, sailing/boat ride, great fort closeby with fun tours, window shopping, seasonal festivals. I usually do it in conjunction with Mystic (as both have maybe 2 days each of stuff to entertain). With mansion Tours, sea walk, and beach, I think it's a better place to stay than mystic (and then commute to mystic).

Places we have taken our DD's. -Newport, RI holiday season is Polar Express, stayed at a Marriott Residence in. Nice pool, kitchen and Continental breakfast. -Cape Cod, MA- Ocean's Edge, great gated community with golf, gorgeous pools, activities, bike riding, and beach with the most beautiful kid friendly flat beaches. -Carolina Beach, NC Rented a home with pool access and beach access in walking distance. Kids night carnivals, fire works, many things to do. -Disney World, Florida. Stayed at Wilderness 1x, and Saratoga Springs 2x's -Fort Myers, Florida- Pink Shell Resort (stayed here 3 times). Located right on Gulf. Kid friendly, beautiful pool with zero entry, and separate kids pool- deck has kid activities such as crafts, hair braiding, etc. -Nantucket Island, MA- Beaches, beaches and more beaches. Nature at its best. -Palm Coast, Florida- Hammock Beach Resort. Amazing pools, deck activities for kids. Located right on the beach.
We just booked Ocean Edge in Cape Cod for this summer, and are looking to book Carolina Beach again for this summer. Also will spend a week out in Montauk this summer. Would love to go to Atlantis, Bahamas this September.
