Re: Is there a mercury free H1N1 shot?
It depends on whether or not your peds office gets individual doses or the container of it that they draw from. The containers have thermisol in them to preserve the vaccine, the indivual pre drawn vaccine doses do not.
My peds office has a policy for the seasonal shot that all kids under three get the thermisol free season flu shot, all others get from the container of vaccine.
With that said, for the H1N1, my peds office just said that they are taking what they can get since the demand is far exceeding the supply. So, yes the H1N1 IS produced in a mercury free form, but those I hear are harder to come by. My peds office only has the H1N1 with the preservative.
