Is there a place where students can stay in the city?

We have someone who is 20 coming in for 3 weeks from Italy and we are looking for somewhere for him to stay in the city.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Maybe call NYU, Columbia etc, student services and see if they have a suggestion or a place where they put up visiting students??

there is a place on the west side- but it might be for girls only

I;d look for Youth Hostels in the city..

there is a YMCA on Central Park West I think, in the 60s...very close to Columbus Circle and literally right across the street from the park.

my dh has gone there to eat at the kitchen a few times after the marathon...I think the prices for the rooms are about $60...a ridiculous steal. and the kitchen and the lobby seemed pretty clean...though I've never seen a guest room.

if it's before school starts- the nyu dorms rent out their rooms to people working/living in the city for the summer- it's mostly interns. call up the dorms, i don't think it's too much $$
