Is there anything more thorough than a pre purchase home inspection?
we had our home inspected prior to purchase and it passed with flying colors.
however, now that we are living in it there are a few things that concern me, that i'd like to have checked out...but I don't want the same home inspection.
specifically, I'd like the insulation in the den checked out, and also I'd like to know how structurally sound the den and laundry room are, and if we can build on top.
I'd also like to have the electricity in the house tested as well as the roof.
again, all of these things were tested and were fine...but I feel like there is a difference bet. fine for closing and really fine????
can anyone help me or even know what I am getting at?
TIA

You can call a structural engineer. They will check the house in terms of structure.
You might want to call some electricians, etc... to tell you more on specific issues you might have.

Yes if you really want to get detailed info (and issues) with your house, you have to bring in specialized people.
Bring in an electrician if you want your electric checked out. Bring in a contractor that handles insulation/siding to check your insulation issue. Like the PP said bring a structural engineer in to check the structure.
If you bring in a "jack of all trades"... you are only going to get so much detailed info.

I guess I'll just have to make more than one appt.

When you had your home inspected before you bought it was it done by an engineer or a "regular" home inspector?
