Radiant Heat ... $$$ to install, but very very affordable once it is in use.

Unfortunately, you need something to heat the water... either directly using electricity, oil or gas, or you'll need electricity to pump the water through a Geothermal Heat Pump, which uses the ground to heat the water. Very cheap to use, but $$$ to install....

i have radiant (sp?) heating throughout and i still need some way (gas or oil) to heat the water that goes thru the pipes under the floors. It is initally expensive, but it does pay off. My oil heating costs are alot less.

Unfortunately, other than installing some sort of geothermal unit ($$$$$), you can't get around using oil or natural gas for heat. Water can be involved (hot water, steam, radiant heat) - but it still needs to be heated.

I was thinking geothermal too but it's very expensive to install. You would still need a source of heat to heat the water but since the water is underground it takes less energy to heat it up since it's stays in the high 50's-60's degrees.

I know, I just assumed the OP was fed up with the high costs of gas/oil/electric and was looking for a solution to minimize the costs. The reduction of cost by using radiant can be huge.
