Is this cheesy? Re: Nursery school and birthday parties

What is the right thing to do:

We aren't going to have a big party for my daughter, just cousins, immediate family and maybe a few friends including one from nursery school.

I can't invite her whole class but there is one child that she is friendly with and we have been to a few of her birthday parties. - so we were thinking of inviting her....

Is it okay to invite one and not the whole class?

Its not like we/my daughter is going to broadcast her party to her class anyway - but do mother's get upset if they hear their child is not invited?

It would just get pretty expensive inviting everyone and I really don't know all of the other kids and their parents so i feel funny inviting people I don't know.

What is the right thing to do?

ETS - I was justing thinking it would be a nice gesture to bring in cupcakes/munchkins for the teacher/class to celebrate DD bday in class aside from her party.

I think it's fine - esp at this age when they['re not really comparing yet! I would just mail the other mom the invite and then bring in something for the class.

As a PK teacher, yes, that is fine--as long as you hand it to the mom outside of school (ie., don't put it in the child's backpack). I find moms don't mind, as long as 3/4 of the class is invited & a few aren't.

We have many cupcake or munchkin celebrations in school; some with goody bags.

Can you mention to the mom that you are only inviting her DD? I know if I get an invite I usually ask other people if they are going.
