Is this normal baby poop?? (sorry to be gross..)
I didn't experience this w/Johnny prob b/c he was strictly formula fed.
DS gets about 60% formula 40% breastmilk...I mix the two together and he seemed fine.
However he has had two poops that have been horrible poop explosions..went up his back, and were really runny and yellow. The thing that concerned me most was the smell...very hot/vinegary smelling...and he was REALLY fussy both times before he went, like bad gas pains...
I am just confused. Johnny never went through this. He was always pretty constipated actually so this is new to me....I am wondering if Ryan might have a dairy intolerance?? Any advice is appreciated!

Re: Is this normal baby poop?? (sorry to be gross..)
Yesterday when I picked up my DS from the babysitter she said the same thing happened. That he had an explosive poop and that it smelled like vinegar/sour milk. He drinks only breastmilk and we recently started solids. I usually make his food but yesterday he ate Earths Best apples, that was the only thing different. Then yesterday evening I noticed he smelled like sour milk so I thought it was his bib or clothes that smelled (maybe milk got on him during one of his feeding) but after changing his clothes I realized it was his poop. It has never smelled this way before. Does anyone know why this happened?

Good lord I can't remember that far back . But if memory serves me correctly, DS had what we called the a$$ explosions pretty much every day. Diaper explosions that went up and out on a regular basis. And I think they were sometimes on the yellowish side. I don't remember the vinegary smell, though.
You can always call the ped to make sure.

If your son has an allergy, his poop would be green and mucousy and may have streaks of blood. Yellow is normal, and smell can vary.

Thanks everyone!
I know that yellow is normal, and even watery...but WHOA what came out of this kid Gross!! From everything I've read, it says breastmilk poop doesn't smell bad...it must be because he is on both bm and formula b/c it sure is stinky!!

ds has always had a variable poopy world.. I did notice that my bm patterns reflected his (sorry if it is tmi) especially when he was more strictly bf....
