Is this normal...(first time using crock pot and making beef stew)?

I have two more hours to go for my beef stew and the lid is ratteling a bit I'm looking in and seeing lots of bubbles like dish washing bubbles.

I used about 2 cups of beef broth for about 2 lbs of meat and mixed vegetables.

Is this normal, too much liquid? & is it supposed to look like dish washing soap bubbles Chat Icon

The lid on mine rattles--I think there's just too much steam in there that's trying to escape.

Try not to remove the lid though, I think that screws up the temperature in there!

Mine does that. I agree not to remove the lid because the temperature changes.

you generally don't need a lot of liquid

but the bubbles and lid rattling are normal - its just the steam

don't take the top off, you'll lose about 20 min worth of time!

Thanks! Well had my first crock pot dish and it was pretty yummy. Next time I have to put less fluid, more salt and cook at less time. It wasn't overcooked but too cooked for my taste. I set it for 6 hours on high for 2 pounds of beef stew. I think next time 5 is enough, I think Chat Icon

As a general rule (some dishes are different) you should aim for 4 hours on high OR 8 hours on low.
