Is this nuchal test/sono
internal or external...???
I go on Friday for this test, and am wondering what I should expect.

external. at ours we didnt hear the heartbeat on the machine, but we could see it, and we got alot of time getting to see the baby

i had mine yest. the sono was external, I got to hear the heartbeat, and then I went for the bloodwork (mine wasn't a finger prick. they took a vial of blood) My little bean looked like a baby this time! it was amazing!

Mine was external. They like your bladder to be somewhat full, they tell you not to go to the bathroom when you get there. The blood test for me was a finger prick and they have this card that 5 drops of blood were placed on.

Usually external as long as they can see the baby clearly enough.

Mine was external, I didn't have to have a full bladder either. My bloodwork was a finger prick, however my Dr. gave me the kit to take home two weeks earlier, I did the finger prick at home and then sent the blood sample to the lab. I was able to have my results right away that day since they already had my blood results.

Yup! Our pics from this sono blew away the ones from the 18 week one SO much better!
Yeah, blood work was a finger prick. Mine was done in my arm t hough b/c I was dehydrated and my veins were screwy, I just remembered that

Mine was external but I have heard them doing a combo of internal and external if they can't get all the measurements.
My bloodwork was not a finger prick but a regular vial from the arm.
And yes the baby will be adorable now!!

Both last pregnancy and this pregnancy were external with a finger prick to get 5 drops of blood on the testing form that gets sent to the lab. According to the Nuchal paperwork I have from the doctors office, the bloodwork can either be done that way or they take 1 vial of blood. So, each physician's office will be different in that regard. Baby looks like a baby, not scrambled eggs any more
