It's sort of inbetween work and home. At the time we were looking at daycares we were both working in Manhattan so we looked at centers west of our home. The feeling is that we are closer to him than if we had to go to our home LIRR station.

Work, for a few reasons. I drive to work, daycare is about a mile away and if they were to call to tell me to come get him, I wanted to be close since I will primarily be the one dropping him off and picking him up.
Also, when we signed up for a place, we knew we would be moving within the year. I didn't want to start him or stay on a waiting list for a palce near my old residence. He is only about 20-30 minutes from home, though, so it isn't that inconvenient if I am going to drop him off if I am not going to work.

Its five minutes from home, fifteen minutes from work(opposite direction from work). My DH works from home and handles most drop offs and picks when he is in town so it makes sense.

My commute is a little more than an hour from home, so I would love to have him in daycare close to work, but there is no good daycare near work. Also, I take public transportation and I can't imagine taking my DS on the subway in the middle of rush hour! His daycare is closer to my home.

babysitter is 5 minutes from my school. I wanted him close in case something happened....although I only liove about 15 minutes from work, I like knowing he is basically around the block.
