Re: Is your pet FIXED?

Yup, she was nine months and not fixed when we got her. They were thinking about breeding her. It was the first thing I did.

Re: Is your pet FIXED?

Having Peanut fixed was one of the 1st things I did.

With male dogs, there is a very high rate of testicular cancer if you don't fix them.

This for me is no-brainer. I would never have a pet that was NOT spayed/neutered.

Not yet...we think we may stud him. If we dont do it this fall he's going to the vet and getting fixed. DH has some male ego issue about having a male dog fixed. Chat Icon

Def get him fixed. Males can develop types of cancer if not fixed.

Ahh... my kind of question.

Absoutley, positively 100% neutered.
I am an advocate for spaying and neutering.

If you or someone you know has a pet and needs a low cost /free neutering place, fm me. I could recommend one.

Help end the overpopulation of pets-
Spay or neuter your pet.

There is nothing wrong with an 8 week old pet getting fixed. Shelters do it all the time.

Re: Is your pet FIXED?

No - we signed an agreement with the breeder not to get him neutered until he is a year old and has been evaluated by his breeder.

Ebony was fixed at 7 years of age. He did not get cancer - he died of meningitis at 11, suddenly.

See here's the thing though- Luna gets repeated UTIs. It's easily a monthly occurance. The poor thing is now on a special diet- although she couldn't care less.

The vet insists it's because she was fixed at such an early age. I suppose it's the lesser of two evils- you can't have a shelter pup adopted out without being fixed- but you don't want to hold a puppy until they're a few months old to fix her before she is adopted out (less adoptable I suppose).

Re: Is your pet FIXED?

both of my doggies were fixed at the shelter before i adopted them. they were both young adults, so there was no problem with them being too young.

of course, when i brought each of them home, i wasn't allowed to give them a bath until their wounds healed. so twice i had filthy (not to mention sick) dogs from the streets in my house - that was fun... Chat Icon

Not yet, but we already paid for it (through our donation) and we have a "Free spay" certificate that we will use in a month or two.

It was a 1st birthday present for Cooper. Funny thing though... I had never owned a dog and FH had never owned a male dog. So when we picked him up after the procedure we noticed the sack was still there... we were so confused!!! We thought they took the whole thing, sack and all...
