Issue with contractor...WWYD?
We just finished gutting and renovating our master bathroom. This was literally finished 3 weeks ago. I noticed the other day that some of the grout is already starting to crack in some corners where the 4 tiles come together. I did some research, and it seems that this can be caused by the contractor using too much water when he mixes the grout. I dont know for a fact that this is the case, but it seems to me 3 weeks is kind of soon for the grout to be cracking already.
I am definitely going to address this with the contractor, but I am thinking about asking him to re-grout the entire bathroom. Do you think this is asking too much of the contractor? I know this is a lot of work, but its only been 3 weeks. If its cracking after 3 weeks, what is it going to look like after 3 years?

Our grout started to crack too. I don't think it's the contractor - rather the grout...
At least I hope it's not the contractor - we used a friend!!!
I wouldn't ask him to re-grout the entire bathroom - just where it's cracking.
eta: I would call him today!

I'm a crazy person and would definitely have it redone. If he is only willing to redo the area currently cracking, I'd want it in writing that he'll come back and redo the whole thing if any additional areas start cracking.

I think asking him to redo the entire bathroom when only a small section is cracking is a bit much. I would get him to give you something in writing about coming back in a few years if it cracks in other areas.

when the grout starts to settle you start to see some cracks and just have to touch it up. its pretty normal. my family is in the business and i remember hearing this a lot. its no tthe contractor. just call them and tell them. it'll be fine.

I agree. I think getting them to fix the problem spots is acceptable enough.
