I agree, it doesn't matter if it's 17 yrs old or not. It's disgusting.
I wasn't defending them. I just wanted to put up their response to the outrage.
And I want to know who the big guy is. (Is that the worker who no longer works there)? He's motioning that he's going to hang the poor kitten and at the 21 second mark, I think he says something like "debbie do you want to kill again"...or something like that. I can't really make it out. If that's what he's saying...than who's Debbie? The person holding the camera?
But if he's still working there he needs to be fired as well.
Is Pat the woman in the brown uniform?
Sorry, I'm just trying to figure out who everyone is.

News 12 is showing the video, along with subtitles because some sentences are hard to understand.
I was appalled on how a human being could treat an animal like that. Those individuals need to be locked up!!!!!!

The voice doesn't sound dubbed in to me. Sounds like someone was close to the camera, off the camera, screaming it so why can't it be Horan?

You are all so right! The only rescuers that frequented the building were banned 5 months ago for speaking out about horrific acts just like seen in the video. This shelter needs a complete overhaul of staff and it should not be Kate Murray & her board deciding who should be in charge. It should be the taxpayers, who genuinely love and care about homeless animals. Let's remember there was also a "Debbie" in the room. Debbie was just recently promoted to a kennel supervisor. There is also a Facebook picture circulating of two kennel workers posing for a picture in front of the dead dog freezer. These are not the people that I want caring for our homeless shelter animals. I'll be at the protest Saturday as I will not sleep until the staff at this shelter is overhauled.

The video was on Newschannel 4 thi smorning at 6am. And if it is true that the video is 17 years old, that means this horrible behavior has gone on at the shelter way to long! There needs to be a major overhaul and now!

Oh, and so DEBBIE still works there too? Amazing, after all these years...still there. Guess some people are getting paid nice sums to abuse animals. JUST wonderful. I think the truth in all of your posts are finally illustrated by this video. I will be supporting in everyway I can b/c I am outraged. And yes, that means ABUSE is going on wayyyyyyy too long if this video is THAT old.
Kudos to WHOMEVER found the video and released it.
Maybe the abuse can finally end for these poor animals.

Just thinking about it again...so if DEBBIE (who seems to have been holding the camera) still works there (according to thinkinglikemommy), then she was OK with animal abuse as she was filiming that disgusting abusive video of the kitten. And she is still there now as kennel supervisor?
If this is true...then Kate Murray has more business to take care of.

if she's in charge... whether she's involved in the abuse or not... her staff indeed was... and therefore she still should be held accountable for the actions of her staff!
i can't watch the video. it would probably really really upset me too much. i can't take this sort of stuff.
but none of these people should be working anywhere near any animal at all. not only should they be fired and deemed to never work with animals again but by the sounds of some of the posts here.. some of these lowlifes should also have charges brought up against them.
they should be ashamed of themselves... i can only hope that what goes around comes around.

Thanks for getting that petition going! There is a candlelight vigil tonight (Fri. 3/25) at the town of Hempstead animal shelter at 7pm in memory of this kitten and the many others killed this way. Please join me at 7pm at 3320 Beltagh Ave. Wantagh. Hope to see you there.
