Re: Italy
Over the summer DH and I visited Ireland with Go Ahead Vacations. We met a couple who had done another tour with Go Ahead called Walking Through Tuscany. They raved about it and DH and I decided that we'd like to do that some day.

We went there for our HM. We went on a CIT tour. It was awesome. And despite what most people think, a tour gives you A LOT of free time. Almost too much for our liking actually. Being on a tour has a lot of benefits too, ESPECIALLY jumping the huge lines that are at most sites. 7 out of 10 nights were included. AND to have a tour guide setting everything up for you, pointing out and explaining everything, being on a bus instead of driving makes a HUGE difference.
We went to Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento and Capri! As well as the some towns in between.
I highly suggest these cities as well as possibly Sicily as places to see.
Italy is incredible...And only hope that i get a chance to go back one day

I agree- we had a good amount of time on our own in each place. There are many advantages to tours especially when you visit places where you don't know the language (I also did a Contiki tour that visited many places, including Italy, a few years ago).
These guides tend to be super-knowledgeable and that really increased our enjoyment.
