Italy help
We're planning on going to Rome for our honeymoon. Anyone have any suggestions for good hotels and side trips?

Re: Italy help
Pompeii is a day trip from Rome. It would be a long day, but worth it. DH and I have been to Rome 2x and have yet to make it there but I believe it is a few hours on the train and they also have bus tours. How much $$ do you want to spend on a hotel? The 1st time we were there we stayed in a small hotel I believe it was 100Euro a night. The 2nd time was for a business trip for DH so we stayed at the Sheraton which was 200Euro a night.

Re: Italy help
You should get Rick Steve's Book.
My parents just spent a month in Florence and then 2 weeks travelling Austria & Germany and they used his book as a guide for their excursions. (They rented an apartment in Florence). DH & I and my sister & her FH visited them there for 10 days this past April.
One thing I know is that if you want to take an overnight trip, you can book your hotel at a booth at the train station. My sister and her FH went down to Rome for 2 nights while visiting my parents. That's how they booked their hotel. It was near the Spanish Steps. (They got engaged there too.) My parents also used this technique for the entire portion of their Germany & Austria trip. I wouldn't recommend this for your honeymoon, but it's a good thing to know and his book does recommend hotels and restaurants.
Enjoy your honeymoon. You will have a fabulous time.
