DH's cousin just got back from a Perillo Tour and she loved it! Her pics were amazing. My uncle did a Perillo tour and loved it as well.

My SIL did a trip through ABC Tours and really liked it as well.

I took an Ireland tour through Go Ahead Vacations- we met a couple who had done an Italy tour with them called Walking Through Tuscany. They raved about it. The company has other Italy tours as well.

If the tour co. site gives the names of the hotels (GAV does) you can look up reviews on Trip Advisor. One of the hotels on our itinerary had so-so reviews, but we thought it was fine.

ETA- One of the companies has a division called Breakaways, which are tours for 21-35 year olds. Something to consider if you are younger and prefer a younger crowd.

If I remember correctly, Globus also has a division called Cosmos, which is more for budget mineded travelers. Even if you're not interested in that it might be a good basis for comparison.

Our tour was actually going parallel with another tour....a "cheaper" tour with another name and we were staying at 4 start hotels...(for Europe...remember its different than 4 stars in the US Chat Icon ) and they were staying at 2 star hotels....just a step above a youth hostel.

Regarding the twin beds....I do remember that everyone on our tour had twin beds...and that the married ones just pushed thier together...I would ask though! Chat Icon

Re: Italy Tours or Cruises

I don't think that all the beds are twins (i went with 7 people, so we all had twins)

As far as the hotels, they are at least 3 star places, but most of them are outside the main center of each city. Not a big deal unless you are planning to stay longer at a certain locale and have to take a cab back to the hotel.

Re: Italy Tours or Cruises

The hotels were nice... besides we were hardly ever there, the tours keep you so busy.

I think you can request a double bed (maybe??) but from what I've seen in Europe most hotels rooms are small so I doubt you'd get bigger than a queen if that.

I think its like being on a cruise ship with twin beds, you've got to push them together and get creative... Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Italy Tours or Cruises

We went on CIT tours...

I LOVED IT.

No twin beds for us i am assuming that can be arrainged or not by your travel agent.

Just becareful where you go. A lot of hotels do not have air conditioning...

Our did but not all do.

IMO Perillo tours is a waste of money...you can find just as good of a tour without spending it on food...
