Its time to go...
Yesterday I picked up Gilly from daycare and was sitting outside banging on the door from door to door and no answer. This went on for approximately 20 minutes. I was seriously seconds from calling the cops. After 20 min I heard a little voice saying "who is it" and still not answering. Eventually the asst came up and opened the door. They all stated they didnt hear me. Could you imagine how hard I was banging and to not hear me... Well, not even an appology but rather a "you couldnt have been out there I was outside 10 min ago with my dd". So today I called and asked what happened. Which again turned into a defensive war as usual. For some reason she doesnt get that I am the mommy. She told me "its not about you its about the children". I still think about that statement like ***??? Ummm...NOOOOOOO....Gillian is a baby and I am her mommy. When I call I expect you to call me, when I knock I expect you to answer. I shouldnt have to assume that my dd is ok. SO she tells me NO other daycare will let me know how Gillian is doing during the day...C'mon now! I am fit to be tied. Worst of all I dont know if I am asking too much but Gillians 1st bday was in NOV...I kwould like for her 2cnd b-day her to have some friends not just a drop off place.

Yes. I have to. I dread the fact that she likes them but honestly...I cant risk knowing if my baby is ok.

Re: Its time to go...
weird....I always make sure I run to the door with the first knock, I want the boy's mom to see exactly what is going on at that moment.
I email his mom pics during his afternoon nap each day of what we did during the day, and I also email her videos...
if it doesn't feel right, look somewhere else.

I'm surprised any other mommies put up with that kind of treatment there. I'm sure there is a place out there that will treat DD AND you well - show the respect you deserve and give DD excellent care. I hope the search isn't too stressful. And I bet you'll find a place where DD will make great friends too.

Wow, I have to say that would REALLY bother me and I wouldnt feel comfortable leaving her there. It would make me think they are trying to hide whatever was going on at that moment.
Also I have used private sitters and a daycare/preschool and they always let me in right away even when I am unexpectadly early and when I call they give me a report of what is going on!

Re: Its time to go...
ya know what gets me....she doesnt even understand how frustrating it is to be outside a home where you think you child is inside and no one is answering. I mean...ya gotta wonder where the heck they are and if they are maybe somewhere they shouldnt be... How can ya be defensive. I would have been appologetic. I was a nanny prior to my degree and I wouldnt have thought of doing this.

she said they were singing and doing projects that they had no idea. If I told you I was KICKING in the door on that 15th minute it would be an understatement. How could ya not hear me.

You've had issues there before, it's definitely time to move on. This place is not making you feel comfortable and that's enough.

I would have broken a window. I can't believe how 'calm' you remained. I slept on this after you told us yesterday. I am actually more livid today than I was when you first told us. I'm going to step away from the computer and breathe right now for you and Gilly.
I'm glad youa re getting out of there. I can't imagine how frustrating it is to find another provider. If I could, I'd help you during the day. Maybe when I get better.

Re: Its time to go...
Where do you live? My DD isn't in daycare, but I have friends who send their kids, and my SIL uses a place for her DS also. I can give you some ideas if you would like... for you and Gillian

Re: Its time to go...
Find another place. You should be able to call or stop by any time you want without notice and see your child or find out how they are doing.

WOW that's unacceptable for ALL the reasons mentioned already!
you dont deserve to be treated like that or made to feel that you did anything wrong.
I hope you find a great place that works better for you

Re: Its time to go...
OK...so dh is making me nervous. He REALLY does not think she belongs in a center. He feels she is still little. Honestly, I do too. However, the repeated issues just become compiling. KWIM Ideally, I know she and her kids love Gilly and I know thats what I want...However, I am gonna kick myself in the arse a few months from now when another situation arises. Her defense...."Well , you know she is safe now and all was fine downstairs". To me that is hindsight.

Re: Its time to go...
You should report her - there is no way someone can tell you no daycare tells you how their child is doing - on Cailen's 1st day alone I called 3 times!!!!

Re: Its time to go...
I think you need to get the hell out of that place ASAP!!! I cannot believe she said no other place would tell you how your child is doing! I used to call and check on DD a lot when she first started! I think a center is great..more eyes, more ears, and eight kids her own age to play with everyday!!

We are encouraged to call and ask how the kiddos are doing.
Paulette, this situation is not going to get any better, be proactive and change it
