Re: I've been hit with the baby blues....
As everyone is telling you it does go away. It definitely helps to get out, even if it's just to go to the supermarket.

Re: I've been hit with the baby blues....
I know EXACTLY how you feel. On top of all these new experiences, my grandfather passed away the day after we came home from the hospital I think that I am finally getting into a groove- like yesterday he was an angel, hung out in his chair while I took a shower, slept soundly, etc....then last night he turns into a beast and is up from 2am till 4:30! It's frustrating!

Re: I've been hit with the baby blues....
Ohhh Shana you're not alone. I went through this BIG time. I remember when DH went back to work and his mom left us to go back to Israel, and I had my first week alone with Alex. I cried HYSTERICALLY everyday. I looked at other people and was soooo jealous that they could just step out of their house without thinking, do I have milk? Diapers? Wipes? There were days when she would cry all day and I would just sit with her and cry with her... it's a HARD adjustment - probably the hardest you'll ever go through. You're not a bad mommy Shana, you're just going through a tremendous transition in your life and I can guarantee that 99% of new mommies go through this. Hey, just last night when Alex was wailing her head off I looked at Gadi and asked, can I sell her on Ebay? Half joking, HALF SERIOUS Don't feel bad - you're both learning day by day and growing together. And, of course it's going to be hard - your life is forever changed. At first, I know with myself, I longed for the day life would get to "normal" again, but there is no "normal" when you have a baby. You just have to look forward and realize that everything is different now, but with it comes so many inexplicable joys. The first 3 months are so hard Shana, but seriously, when she flashes her first smile at you, or when she does her first belly laugh, or splashes her legs in the bathtub for the first time, it will be all worth it. In the meantime, you *have* to take time for yourself. Give her to hubby for a few hours when he gets home and take a bath, meet a friend for dinner, watch a movie. What also helped me TREMENDOUSLY was to get out of the house with Alex. It usually put her in a better mood and I no longer felt like a walking zombie.

Re: I've been hit with the baby blues....
ok, I never had any of these feelings that you ladies are describing, but I hear about it all too often. I also think that the reason why I never felt "blue" is because I NEVER stayed home, I was out with each of my children a day or 2 after they were born, and it definitely helps. I was at the beach with my son when he was 5 days old and I was at the park with my middle child when she was 3 days old. A soon as I'd start feeling sad I'd pack up the bag and get in the car and end up at the mall, or the park, or the beach, or my grandparents. Feeling part of your community will definitely help, with or without Alyson! I hope you feel better soon!

Re: I've been hit with the baby blues....
I'm feeling blue too. I'm having a really hard time w/ the BF, she's been really fussy & hungry the past several days, sleep is almost nonexistent for me. The cold weather is also making it really depressing for me, if I could just take her for a walk & get some fresh air I know I would feel better. I'm having a super hard time w/ the lack of sleep, I know I should be enjoying this time w/ my little girl, but as bad as it sounds I can't wait for her to grow a bit so I can get some sleep!!!!!!!!!! It's good to know I'm not alone. We'll make it through!!!

Re: I've been hit with the baby blues....
I can totally relate to your feelings Shana.. I've been hit with the baby blues too. With Jacob's issues that he has with his airway being partially blocked, and the Acid Reflux, and the gas.. some nights he will only sleep for 45 min in an 8 hr stretch. I find myself trying to console him and crying hysterically myself at 4am. And like you said I sat there while he was crying wishing that he was never born! HORRIBLE! Then i cried for hours because that thought even entered my mind. My DH has been trying to help me out with feeding him at like 1am so i can sleep for at least 4-5 hours, which feels like 12 hours!!! And try to get out if you can... even for 1/2 hour... hang in there sweetie

Bump...this is old, but reading it made me feel a lot better and if anyone else feels the way I do, this might help as well as the other girls responses to my original post.
