I'Ve Made One Of The Biggest Decisions...
of my life....I'm getting a tatoo!!!!! I'm so scared....and I want those of you who have them to be honest. How pianful was it on a scale of 1 to 10!!!! I hate needles and I'm scared to death but I want it!!!!!!  
This is what I'm thinking of getting. Or something like it.

Where are you getting it? I wanted to get one but I don't know where to put it. I would like to put one where I can show it off if I want or not show it off if I don't want.
I was talking to DH about the lower back (in the center) and he said that's a tramp stamp!

I want to get it on my shoulder/back. I was thinking of getting this one but have it drape on my shoulder kinda.

I got one on my left shoulder that I designed and has personal meaning to me.I popped a valuim before they started and I must say it wasn't all that painful

I have 2 and in all honesty the one on my ankle hurt, but didn't hurt that much, but the one on my shoulder definitely hurt like hell. After a while, you get used to the pain. I actually think getting my bikini waxed is more painful than getting a tatoo, but that's just me. GOOD LUCK.

I have one on my thigh and IMHO it's the best place to get it. I can keep it covered if I want, and it hardly hurt at all

I have a bunch of tattoos. I have to say that it is more annoying than painful. The best way I can describe the feeling is that it feels like an indian burn (remember those? )
It also depends where you get it. I have one around my ankle that hurt the most out of all of them. The closer to the bone, the more it will hurt
Honestly, it is not bad and it is SO worth it....good luck

Well, first of all the biggest determining factor when it comes to pain is bodies natural pain threshold. The second is the location you are thinking of getting it.
I have 7, and I am also in the process of completing a full sleeve from my shoulder to my wrist on my right arm.
I have 2 on my belly (1 is lower left abdomen and the other is around my bellybutton), 1 on my outer right ankle, one in the middle of my back on my spine, 1 that goes from the top my right shoulder to my elbow and all the way aroubd on my right arm and one that goes from my inner elbow to my wrist on mr right forearm. They vaired in completion time, from 45mins for my smallest to 6hrs (done all in one sitting) for my larger pieces).
Personally, I have been addicted ever since I got my first, when I was 18 and I enjoy getting tattooed but keep in mind that most people don't. I also have an inhumanly high tolerance for pain which makes it a lot more bearable and easier for me than for other people.
I can tell you that even with a high pain tolerance like me, my forearm and bellybutton hurt like a biatchhhh!!! The others didn't even make me flinch.
My best advice would be to bring a water bottle for you to drink, make sure you eat about an hour before you go so you don't get light headed. Try to remain calm and not to get to scared. The more nervous you are the more your muscles will tense (making it more painful) and your breathing will change (possibly causing lightheaded-ness). and remember to BREATHE...
It's really not bad at all...more annoying than anything else and it does not even come remotely close to getting a needle at the Dr....It's a completely different feeling all together...
Just relax...You'll be hooked soon enough!
Anything else, just ask....I'm the guru of tattoos.
