IVF - questions
My husband and I are meeting for IVF consultation in May. Assuming all goes well... what is the actual process?
From what I understand when you get your next period you start taking medicine to help you produce eggs? Then what? What is the time frame?
Just curious for any information about the process/timiing from period to implantation to pregnancy.
Thanks, A

Re: IVF - questions
Usually your cycle starts on day 3 of your period. You first begin with Lurpon (or something like that) for around 7 days to supress your ovaries. Then after a series of blood tests you start a stimulating drug (Follistim) for 7-10 days depending on your response. Finally your trigger shot to release the follicles and then retrevial two days later. Around 3-5 days later the transfer happens!
Good Luck!!!

Re: IVF - questions
It really depends on what drug protocol the RE decides is best for you, for example it might be Lupron or BCP, if it is the latter they advise you that the entire process takes on average 7 weeks from start to finish, it also depends on how you respond to the meds, if you are a slow responder you will stim for longer. Good luck
