IVF Blogs

Does anyone here have an IVF / infertility blog...do you treat this board as a blog?

I come here for guidance, support and information, and I am thinking a blog might be a better forum for individual play by play updates on cycles.

And yes, I am prepared for an onslaught of nasty comments and flaming...bring it on.

I think that if people want to constantly update others about their cycle, maybe they should start one thread like melijane did...like a blog...

Re: IVF Blogs

I also use Fertility Friend. But, you have to pay for that one (or some people get it free with some monitors).

There is also IVF connection.

I find all the others to be huge and I never know where I fit in. I like our small board here b/c i can get to know everyone. And then I can help people who are going through something I already did.

Re: IVF Blogs

why would anyone flame you? I know people that do IF blogs - I think they're great. I do my best to check in on them as often as I can.
I keep my play by play notes in word documents in my TTC folder on my computer. Then I add to my notebook on my important posts on here- and others too for that matter.

I agree with the op, this board was always for knowledge, etc, not someone's timeline of events....

for constant updates, don't forget there are always FMs, you can have up to 6 people, so that's a great way to update your friends...

Re: IVF Blogs

I think if you are in the midst of a cycle or starting one - it's best to keep it to one thread aka Melijane.

My biggest problem with seperate posts is that it loses thoses threads that I am trying to keep up with.

Re: IVF Blogs

I agree...I think one post with updates is great. For specific questions, I think its good to post AFTER you have searched.

I had no idea, nor had I ever taken Provera. I didn't ask, I just searched for my answer on how long it would take for AF to arrive. That's what's great about this entire site. Very user friendly. Easy to search...because there has definitely been someone here on the road you're on.

Re: IVF Blogs

I do keep my own personal blog on my myspace page, which is kept private. My DH is the only one that can read it. I try to keep as much of my cycle's private here as possible. If/when I do get my BFP, I don't want to feel that I have to announce it right away because I've been open about my cycle.

But I agree with the PP's that if you keep one here, it should be updated in one thread, it's too hard to keep up when there are multiple threads.

Or when there are multiple posts about the same thing - for example this board doesn't need 5 posts about an HSG or some other procedure, there is tons of info about it and if you are getting one just add to an earlier thread.
As a vet I have to admit, it's gets really tiresome answering the same questions over and over when a person doesn't or won't do a search

I agree about not being able to keep up with everyone. There are too many new people on the boards with very similiar names, so its hard to keep up with who's doing what.

Also, I agree here. I'm not going to tell anyone about a BFP until I'm further along. I've had probably 3 BFPs that I haven't told anyone about in the last 8 months because they always turn out badly for me...I've definitely learned my lesson Chat Icon

I'm happy to read most things posted here. If I don't think I'll be interested, I don't open the thread.

As a newbie to this board, I think I'd find it helpful to follow someone's experience in a single thread. I feel like it would help me understand others' sequences.

Re: IVF Blogs

I do have a personal blog that I keep in an old fashioned "journal" My MIL encouraged me to start one when we found out we would be on an IF journey. I find it truly does help me to keep track of my cycles & to write down my emotions...

When I do get a BFP, I can look back on everything we went through to get there...I like this site though bc it is user friendly! I have a lot of things stored in my notebook on here & refer back to them. I have asked questions before that I know others have answered bc I was just in shock we were dealing with male IF Chat Icon

I agree....if I'm not interested I dont read the thread. I also agree that it would be easier to follow one post/thread but a lot of new people like myself are still learning. Somtimes time does not permit to do a search....I havent found a good way to search other than reading each post and that can take a while. So a new post is born. there is a search button on the top left of the page. You can search my board, date range, poster, or keyword.

As for the OP poster, I agree.

If I bored you all with everystep every day, Ron would need to create a new board. And you would never see anyoe elses posts on page 1.

PS- Did I mention I am eating chinese food for lunch and my accupuncturist is gonna be mad at me tomorrow. Think she'll forgive me since it has broccoli in it? It was a pretty dark green broccoli?

Ah ok....I was using the search at the top right corner and it kept coming back "no topic found" or something like that. I didnt even realize there was another search. Thanks that's gonna come in handy.

Re: IVF Blogs

Guess I'll put my two cents in here. I did post my story in a blog like fashion within one post. I got so much support and FM's from people I didn't know "knew" me or cared about me. It was a great way to pass the time. On the days that I couldn't update until later in the day people were contacting my sister wanting to know what happened. I don't think anyone had an issue with it. If they did I really don't careChat Icon Is that rude?Chat Icon

Re: IVF Blogs

I started an IF blog. I haven't posted to it in awhile, but I enjoy writing. I also keep a personal journal.

ETA: Ok now I read all the responses, at first I didn't understand what the OP was saying. I really don't have a problem with people posting updates and personal stuff. I think that this board is so much more than just an "information" forum. People come here for support and friendship as well as information. If you don't want to answer the same kind of question again, then don't. If you aren't interested in someone's news, then don't read it. Its not like this board is so active that if someone posts a few updates its going to bump things to pages 2 or 3.
