IVF Coverage NYC Teachers-GHI- 43 y.o.

Hi,

This is my first post!! What a wonderful board. So glad that I found you guys. In any event, I am marrying a NYC teacher next month. I am 43. I had an IUI two months ago through another carrier that was unsuccessful. Reading the policy, it seems that I need to have 4 medicated IUI cycles before they will cover IVF which is ridiculous at my age and given the fact that their cut-off for IVF coverage is 44. Is there any way to get around this with GHI? Has anyone been able to get a waiver from the number of IUI's required? Also..are the meds covered by the GHI prescription rider or the supplemental benefits through the union? Thanks.

I would think given your age, that there could be some kind of waiver. They can't expect you to do the IUIs given the time situation. I would talk to your doctor about that and see what he can do.

I hope that this is the case...I'm just anxious because I know how insurance companies can be...I'm just hoping that it all works out.
