Best: Verizon (which is why we're prob switching to them in April)
Worst: AT&T - I can never hear anyone who has AT&T clearly. My Dad has gone through 6 phones thinking it's the phone and not the service.

Just look at the T-Mobile coverage maps. In this area, there shouldn't be as many gaps and low signal service areas as there are...

I have to agree. I've heard bad things about T-Mobile but have never had a problem with them over the past 4-5 years or so. Service is great - haven't had issues anywhere. Even worked great in Italy (and I don't have a fancy Blackberry or anything - just your average flip phone).

BEst - Verizon
Worst - the only person that I know that does not have verizon has at&t (iphone) and it is THE WORST! I always have trouble reaching her (sometimes the line just rings and rings and then goes dead) and the line always cuts off or starts breaking up AND she lives in NYC not in the middle of nowhere!

I never had Verizon so I cannot compare but I like AT&T and I found it to be more reasonable than Verizon.
Also, AT&T (formerly Cingular) is Union so I would have chosen them over Verizon anyway.

My Verizon signal was great, but I don't want a monthly plan, I want a pay as you go sort of plan since I don't use the cell phone much. And their pay as you go plan stinks--no better than the monthly plan. I didn't care for their customer service.
T-mobile has great customer service, and a good pay as you go plan, but the signal is horrible in my area. The phone is almost useless at times.
So I'm shopping for a new plan, but I don't want to spend much.

Best-Verizon, I've had them forever.
Worst-T-Mobile. DH has his work phone through them. He gets dropped ALL the time. I mean he is driving in Brooklyn, Queens, LI-not in the middle of nowhere and he loses calls like crazy.

I've had Nextel/Sprint for years now and have never had a problem. Depends on which area you areinI guess.

We started with Sprint, then Nextel, then Cingular and now have Verizon and Verizon is the best so far IMO.
Also as we have been with them sooo long and renew contracts they made us VIP members and when we have a billing issue etc we get a lot of courtesys.
We just an issue with downloads using airtime we didnt know would happen, and since we had proof we didnt normally have that usage, they took it all off ( over $265 off my bill) ...
I think their network is great too.

Best: Verizon. Never lost a signal even in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Maine. My Verizon phone had a signal and DH's T-Mobile had nothing.
Worst: T-Mobile. DH had it before we were married and couldn't get a signal in his house or at his job in Queens.

though I had sprint for years and never had a problem with them.
Never had any other service so I don't know about the worst.

Well, I had both AT&T and Verizon. I'm finding Verizon has better service now.
Sprint/Nextel is awful. That's what DH has...I can never get him!

Except for the iphone part, I agree!
TMobile-we have no reception in our apartment (queens, not guam), calls get dropped and it will tell me I have a missed call 3 days later.
