Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
we had one, but it wasn't a "shower" as much as a cocktail party celebrating the baby to be. No games, nothing cutesy, nothing to turn off the guys - just good food & drink!

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
My DH, dad, uncles and brother came to mine. They sat and BSed at a table together and enjoyed Sunday brunch. What's not to like?? For me it was very special having them all there with me....

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
although i would prefer a traditional women's shower for my own shower, i think attending a jack and jlll would be fun!

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
I could not imagine my DH ever going to a baby shower. We were invited once to a J&J bridal shower that he came to, but the bride was a childhood friend of his.
DH even asked me if he has to be at our baby shower . I told him he can hang with my dad and his dad in another room - fortunately my mom's thinking of doing it at their house. I don't even really like going to showers myself so maybe that's why DH has such a negative vibe from them.

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
They are not for me. I think the guys really don't want to be there and it just makes the whole party a lot different for the girls. I threw one for my SIL because they were living in another state and my SIL really didn't know anyone here. So she would have been very uncomfortable meeting my brother's friend's wives for the first time by herself. I can see one in cases like that but otherwise I guess I'm old fashioned in thinking it should be just girls.

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
Hate them. I like the traditional mom only shower...I don't think men need to be incorporated into them, they really could give a cr** about the shower.
DH would have been dead set against it.

I have to respectfully disagree. My DH did give a crap. He helped me open presents and walked around with a Daddy toolbelt on. He's normally a pretty macho guy too. The dads that were there made comments about good products when we opened them. Nowadays dads are very much involved in these sort of things. Times are definitely changing....

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
I just went to one and the father was really into it. It was more about celebrating the couple and not all of the cutsey little things that are typically done at baby showers. It was done in the couple's home more like a get together and very low key. I think that is how they were able to sell the idea to the guys. Everyone mingled and it wasn't like the men were in one room and the women were in the other. I don't mind the idea of Jack and Jill showers for baby showers but for bridal showers, not as much. Men don't care about slow-cookers unless there is chili coming out of it in the next 5 minutes.

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
I am totally for them !!!!!
If I do have a shower, I totally want a party-like barbequey atmosphere. Guys are invited, children are invited, grandmas and grandpas...all are included!!!
The way I look at is I want to be able to relax and celebrate with loved ones and friends. I find that there can be a lot of stiffness and drama with showers (and I am only speaking from my own personal experience here) and I want it to be as enjoyable as possible for EVERYONE. For women invited, it is usually a weekend day away from their hubby's and kids and it is a good excuse for a get together and party for everyone when all are included!!!!! I figure, make a day out of it for everyone!!

My husband is probably the most involved and caring guy ever, and did so much preparation for our baby, I guess I just figured from hearing him and his friends talk (we were all discussing jack and jill showers one day) that most men are not interested whatsoever in the actual shower. He actually said to me "uh thats YOUR thing, have fun!". He showed up at the end to say hello to everyone, to collect gifts etc...
I think its great your DH was involved, I guess I was wrong! It's sweet that he wanted to be involved.

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
I wanted one - I think they sound fun and it brings more of a party atmosphere rather than an obligatory boring shower. I wound up with one of those!

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
I'm more into showers as a girly bonding experience, and it always seems the guys don't want to be there (usually the husband-to-be/father-to-be doesn't seem to want to be there either!). Every one I've been to has the guys sneaking off somewhere to get away from the festivities.

ITA!! My Dh and all the men at my shower had a blast. They participated more than the women with the games and my Dh opened all the gifts with me. They had a blast. I would have it no other way.

Re: jack & jill showers - how do you feel about them?
I was indifferent, but I don't really like showers as a general rule.
I asked DH if he wanted one. After I explained what it was, he said no way.
