Jack and Jill Shower Questions
I wanted to have a Jack and Jill Shower and combine the party with a celebration of DH's graduation from boot camp. I would rent a room in a restaurant / bar and throw it on a Friday evening.
I am already having a traditional baby shower on LI where my family will be attending. This will be mainly for our new friends where we live upstate. DH is good friends with most of my friends' DHs so I thought it made sense to make it one big party.
Here are my questions: 1) Is it tacky to do this (combine parties)?
2) How would you word the invites? I was thinking of something like... "Please come celebrate Mom-to-be Jill and Dad-to-be Jack Smith's Boot Camp Graduation on Friday, January 31st from 7-10pm at XXXXXX."
What would you think of something like this? Should I just separate them into 2 parties?

Re: Jack and Jill Shower Questions
I hate Jack and Jill showers and I would not combine the parties.
But I am old fashioned.
You are having a shower in NY, you said? Then I'd just have a party for your DH for graduating boot camp.
During my shower the men all went to Dave and Busters

Re: Jack and Jill Shower Questions
I don't see anything wrong with that esp. if the events should take place about the same time... it'll be more convenient for your guests 'cus they mayl have to go to both otherwise...
You can hire a place that has a bar and perhaps 2 areas - one for the ladies and the shower, and the other area where the guys can hang out when you start opening the shower gifts...
Jack and Jill showers are becoming more common these days...

I wouldn't do it. They seem like two completely different types of parties and I would do them separately. I also do not care for Jack & Jill showers though.

Re: Jack and Jill Shower Questions
I've only been to jack and Jill Showers (but DH will only come along if he knew the people) thats being said absolutely nothing wrong with it. My mom rented a resturant for my shower it had a bar (we provided the alcohol so noone paid for drinks) a dance floor and a DJ booth all of our friends male and female had a great time.

Re: Jack and Jill Shower Questions
i wouldn't combine the two parties because it might confuse people! Would people know to bring a baby gift? Would you stick one of the registry announcements into the invitation? If that were the case then it becomes more of a shower than a graduation party. If you don't do it, then it becomes more of a graduation party than a shower...kwim?

I know... this is what I was afraid of & also what I was thinking would happen...
Thank you all so much for your opinions!!!
