JAMIE LYNN SPEARS DAUGHTER MADDIE SERIOUSLY HURT In ATV Accident

Jamie Lynn Spears' 8-year-old daughter Maddie was badly hurt in an ATV accident Sunday, and we're told her condition is extremely serious.
Several sources in Kentwood, Louisiana tell TMZ, Maddie was on a Polaris off road vehicle when it flipped over. We're told she was under water for several minutes and unconscious.
Our sources say she was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
We're told Jamie Lynn was not with her daughter when the accident occurred. And, we're told, Maddie was involved in a hunting expedition at the time of the accident.

The daughter of Jamie Lynn Spears, Maddie, was airlifted to the hospital in Kentwood, Louisiana, after suffering an very serious ATV accident.
Her condition is being described as "extremely serious".
The 8-year-old was on a hunting expedition (and not accompanied by her mother) when her Polaris off road vehicle flipped over. 4
Making matters very grave, it is being reported that Maddie was "under water for several minutes and unconscious".

Praying she can come through this okay!!

This is so sad. I hope she's okay.
On a separate note....why was an 8 year old on a hunting expedition and on her own ATV? IMO that's just a recipe for something to happen. She's too young for that and I have to seriously question the responsibility of the person who she was with that day. And this is coming from someone who grew up with hunting in my family...we weren't allowed to come along until we were much older.

On a separate note....why was an 8 year old on a hunting expedition and on her own ATV? IMO that's just a recipe for something to happen. She's too young for that and I have to seriously question the responsibility of the person who she was with that day. And this is coming from someone who grew up with hunting in my family...we weren't allowed to come along until we were much older.
Down in Louisiana its a whole different ballgame. My husband works with a lot of people from down south and I am always blown away by their facebook posts.

I agree. I have an 8 yr old and NO WAY IN HELL would I allow her on an ATV. Seems so irresponsible. Hopefully she's okay and doesn't suffer any long term damage from the accident.

I completely agree that down south is so different. I lived down there for a few years and saw it all the time. But I still think it's irresponsible parenting. There are a lot of adults who cant handle ATVs. Putting a young child on one is just incredibly dangerous. We're talking about a child that's still in Elementary School. And her ATV flipped in water so we're not talking about taking your ATV for a stroll through a beginners trail or something here. It was obviously rough terrain. My DH and his friends recently went on an ATV ride and half of the guys got stuck going through water and had to be towed out. And they're all 30 - 45 years old. This was an 8 Year old. Way way way too young.

I agree. I hate those things. They are sooo unsafe and then you are putting little kids on them.
I dont' care if it's the south, the north or the south freaking pole..

I agree, so sad! If she was under water for several minutes, it honestly doesn't look promising. Very, very tragic mistake that they will have to live with forever

I hope she comes through
I would never let my kid drive one of them until the can drive a regular vehicle because they seem more dangerous than a car to me. I was in an ATV accident when I was 11 with an adult driving. I was thrown off of it and a the hitch it had attached landed on me breaking my ribs. Not worth the risk.

Technically, it is a normal self-protective psychological reaction to say what you would have done differently. So that you don't feel scared that it could happen to you.

in my area just last week ( I live in PA) two middleschoolers (13 yrs old) were in an ATV accident..one died, and one was badly hurt. No helmets, riding in the dark with no lights and they were struck by a car.
These things are so dangerous. there is no reason why an 8 yr old should be on one by themselves.
I pray that she is OK. Underwater unconcious can leave her severely brain damaged :(

Yup. I agree.
I was just watching one of the entertainment news show tonight. And they showed another video of Maddie on the back of an ATV with an adult driving. She was sitting in what looked like had a rail around her. They were going a pretty good speed. And she didn't have a helmet on! I'm sorry. I will judge. This is so irresponsible.! I know a 13 yr old that crashed into a tree at a much lower rate of speed and she suffered head trauma. If Maddie would've flown off the ATV in that video it could've easily been fatal. I was in shock. I wish I could find it on line. But I'm not finding anything.
Those things are not toys.
Very sad story. I hope she makes a full recovery.

Apparnently the owner's manual of the ATV warns against children under 10 operating it or even being passengers in it. And this one seems to have an issue with rolling over an injuring people.
I hate those things. They are worse than motorcycles IMO and should probably be outlawed.

Yeah, I'm going to judge. The vehicle's manual says do not allow children under 10 to drive or even be a passenger. The picture shows her daughter not even wearing a helmet in the thing. That is incredibly irresponsible.
