January 18th
It's not often I get the chance to post these days, but reflecting back on what this day means to me, I thought I'd come on here and try to inspire some hope.
On January 18, 2010 I had my very first RE appointment. I knew I had pcos and figured rather than use OPKs to find I'm not ovulating a few more months, I'd get help ASAP. I thought I was on the fast track!
Three IUIs later, and I got pregnant with a due date of... Yup... January 18, 2011.
At nearly 18 weeks, we found out our baby boy was sick and wouldn't make it.... And he didn't. On what would have been my due date (January 18, 2011) I was in the middle of a 2ww which turned out to be w chemical.
After a VERY long year filled with sadness and grief, on January 18, 2012 I was finalizing forms to be sent the next morning to our surrogacy agency, as recommended by my RE.
On January 18, 2013 I was 8 weeks pregnant with my son and on January 18, 2014 I held him in my arms so grateful for how far we'd come.
Today was a reminder as it is every year that had things gone "as planned" that first baby would have been 4 around now. You really never forget your battle wounds getting to the end result, but you truly never know what miracles are in store around the corner.
I hope for all you ladies that your current cycle is your last (for at least 9+ months) and that your January 18, 2016 is a much brighter one than today.

...And now I'm crying. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm about to have my first (and hopefully only for DC #1 ) IUI this week. We have so much riding on this but reading your little story gives me the hope I need. I don't know you but I'm so happy for you!

Re: January 18th
Glad to help.. I used to be such an active poster on this board, it's a strange feeling coming back around my old hood and not knowing everyone!
Best of luck ladies

Thanks Pennycat for your inspiration and long view reminder. What a trial you went through....I understand about feeling like you don't know anyone on the board anymore...I am still here however...whoo hoo...NOT. Not particularly happy about that but it is what it is...praying for a better 2015 and a fantastic January 18th next year!
