Does anyone have one, specifically the 2012-14? Looking at trading in my MDX for better gas mileage.
Would love any feedback!

My good friend's brother has one and HATES it; says it has ZERO pick up. I drive a 2013 Wrangler and love it and had a 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo and loved that two (both have PLENTY of pick up) so I'm surprised he says that. I would definitely take it out for a test drive and check it out. I've never had problems with either of my Jeeps

I think it's because the Patriot has a smaller engine than the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler. I agree with test driving it- I know my DH loved his Wrangler- but the Patriot is a smaller engine if I am not mistaken- which may be the reason for the lack of power.

Yes, this is definitely the case, I have the 3.6L V6 engine so acceleration isn't a problem for me - just gas milage!

I haven't heard great things about the Patriot or Compass as compared to the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and Liberty.

Funny because my car is a V6 with a 3.5 L engine and although I love it's "balls"- the gas mileage is El Stinko!

Re: Jeep Patriot
I got a new Jeep Cherokee in the beginning of the summer and I am extremely impressed with the amazing gas mileage I am getting.
I commute from the SS/Western Suffolk to Manhasset 5 days a week and barely use a 1/2 tank of gas.
I went up to PA a couple weekends ago, filled up there and then still only used about 3/4 of a tank of gas the whole week with my work commute onto the PA ride home.
There's also an "eco button" which boasts getting up to 30mpg. I think it's probably pretty accurate.
We also decided to lease again, and the dealer gave me 45K miles vs 36k like last time when I had my Mazda (I went over) and I'm still paying about $70.00 less a month for my car payment then the CX9. It also includes the option that covers any kinds of dings and small dents and such I may get over the course of having this car. Didn't have that with my last lease, and learned my lesson.
If I had kept that car, I would also be filling up twice a week.
This is JMO but I would go with the Cherokee.
It's been around forever and is the "truck of Long Island" as DH calls it.
We've both made the mistake of walking to someone else's thinking it was ours.

I want to own a Wrangler one day. Maybe when I hit my mid-life crisis.
In any event, I also think the Patriot, and especially the Compass do not look as well made as the others mentioned.
I feel like they were just something Jeep came up with for people who aren't looking to purchase a bigger SUV, but like the name.
I also don't think the 2014 Jeep is as big as models from years past.

We have the patriot and really like it. DH chose it bc it gets great mileage and has a good amount of storage space for it's size (he wanted something that could fit a full sheet of plywood). We've had it for about 2 years and have had zero issues. I drive a civic hybrid so I'm not used to a lot of pick up I guess and I don't notice it as an issue at all. Obviously it's small but I'm short so I have no issue with DD's rear facing seat behind me.
