If you mean Rutgers New Brunswick, Highland Park, Metuchen, and Bridgewater are all pretty close, all are nice towns.
If it's Rutgers Newark, I would look at South Orange, Maplewood, and Millburn.
I can't help you with Rutgers Camden, that area I don't really know.
also Piscataway...North Brunswick, East Brunswick are all nice
South Brunswick, Princeton, Plainsboro, West Windsor are also nice and not too far from the New Brunswick campus

Rutgers has a few campuses. Also consider Westfield - great town and not far from either of the colleges.

I have no idea yet which campus...the job posting did not specify I would love for it to be the one near Princeton.. I have friends in Cranbury!
